FORT MYERS, Fla. - Speed played a role in motorcycle crash late Tuesday night that left a Cape Coral man in critical condition.

Fort Myers police estimate that 25-year-old Richard Martin Day was driving his Suzuki motorcycle an estimated 120 miles per hour when he crashed while traveling westbound on the Midpoint Bridge just before midnight.

Day's motorcycle hit the rear of a Nissan causing him to lose control of his bike.  The motorcycle flipped over several times disintegrating sending Day over the side of the bridge into some trees off of McGregor Boulevard.
