Sheriff Scott: A deputy would have been fired
FORT MYERS - Sheriff Mike Scott, often rumored to be running for Congressman Radel's seat, released a statement Thursday.
"I am on the record wishing him well in his personal life," Scott said. "But of the thinking that we deserve better in Congress and his decision to go through with that fundraiser in Grey Oaks just days after his arrest was the height of deceit."
Scott was referring to a fundraiser called Gourmet with Trey that occurred in the weeks after his arrest, but before the story became public.
Scott has long had a good personal relationship with the Congressman, even referring to themselves as 'buddies.'
"Had a deputy sheriff done what the congressman did," Scott said. "That deputy would have been fired."
