FORT MYERS, Fla. - December saw a record number of passenger traffic at Southwest Florida International Airport. 735,739 passengers traveled through RSW, an increase of 8.2 percent compared to December 2012. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 3.9 percent from the same period last year.
"In addition, international traffic had a significant increase of nearly 12 percent in 2013 compared to 2012,” said Robert M. Ball, A.A.E., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “This annual growth in passenger traffic shows a renewed interest for travel to Southwest Florida and we appreciate the support of our airline partners in maintaining robust flight schedules at RSW to accommodate this demand.”
The traffic leader in December was Delta with 158,452 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (89,633), JetBlue (84,200), Southwest (80,671) and Spirit Airlines (70,506).
