LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Wildlife officials plan to discuss their next step later Tuesday morning regarding a pod of whales in Lee County's New Pass.

Four pilot whales have died since showing up in the waters of Estero Bay, next to the Gulf of Mexico.  The situation prompted to close New Pass for the time being.

Officials from FWC and NOAA are monitoring the whales that remain in the waters there.

Another pod of whales has been spotted swimming in the waters off of Marco Island.
