Naples man arrested for molesting girl with special needs
NAPLES, Fla. - A 77-year-old Naples man was arrested Monday by Collier County deputies and charged with sexually abusing a girl over the period of a year.
Roy Lamont Bates is charged with three felony counts of molesting a victim 12-16 years old, and one felony count of sexual battery.
The investigation began in Virginia where the victim told a child protective services investigator that Bates had abused her during a trip to Ohio during Christmas 2012. The abuse continued over the summer during a visit to Collier County.
The girl told investigators Bates abused her every time he had a chance to be along with her including masturbating and touching her sexually.
The victim’s mother confirmed Bates had access to her daughter during the time periods she described and that her daughter has the emotional maturity of an 8 or 9-year-old.
