NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee County investigators are looking for a witness to a crash that killed an 89-year-old North Fort Myers woman.

The crash happened at noon on Tuesday at the intersection of Business U.S. 41 and Powell Drive when 69-year-old Joseph Recarey of Cape Coral made a left turn into the path of an oncoming car.

Investigators say Recarey was traveling southbound on U.S. 41 when he made a left turn onto Powell and into the path of a car driven by Patricia Durocher of North Fort Myers.

Durocher suffered minor injuries but the crash killed her passenger, 89-year-old Ruth Babski.

Investigators determined that Recarey was sitting behind a yellow SUV (possibly a Ford) for a period of time and then pulled around it to make his turn.

Detectives would like to speak with the driver of the yellow S.U.V. who may have witnessed the crash.  The driver, or anyone who may know the identity of the driver, is asked to call the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit at (239) 477-1636.
