Lee County deputy involved in crash
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A crash late Wednesday night sent a Lee County deputy and two other people to the hospital.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Sunniland Boulevard.
Investigators say a marked patrol vehicle was traveling west in the inside lane on Lee approaching Sunniland when a gray Buick driven by 74-year-old James Bursey of Lehigh Acres made a left turn directly into the path of the cruiser.
The deputy's vehicle hit the left side of Bursey's Buick causing minor damage to his vehicle.
The deputy, Bursey and a passenger in his car were all taken to Lehigh Regional Hospital as a precaution. All three were treated and released.
Drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the Buick were transported to Lehigh Regional Hospital for precautionary purposes. All parties were treated and released without injury.
The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
