Lee County deputies on scene of death investigation
BONITA SPRINGS - Lee County deputies spent much of Saturday investigating a murder-suicide in Bonita Springs.
The initial call came in at 3:54 p.m. Friday to the 11000 block of Lee Court. When they arrived deputies found two dead people in the house.
Detectives identified the two as Robert Ray Hampton and Teresa Louise Hampton, both 49. Investigators say it appears Robert Hampton came to the house and shot Teresa killing her, before turning the gun on himself. The two had domestic issues in the past and were separated at the time of the incident.
"There was probably 8-10 squads and a fire truck here," neighbor Wendy Cujas said.
The peach house at the end of the street was roped off with yellow crime tape.
"It's unusual, I have never been among anything like that that I can tell you about in 13 years here," neighbor Margaret Carslaw said.
Carslaw lives right next door and says the people living in the home moved in a few months ago and that there were a bunch of people coming and going from the house.
Neighbors say there were small children living in the home and that they were seen crying at the scene.
