Lee County EMS to return to Bonita Springs fire stations
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - A two month standoff over where to house paramedics in Bonita Springs is drawing to a close.
The city has been asking the county for an increase in ambulance service. That led to Lee County EMS to move its squads out of Bonita fire stations and into hotels.
Now the county and the Bonita Springs Fire Department has struck a deal to return the ambulance crews to their fire stations on Monday February 3rd.
The county has agreed to pay the same rate to BSFD as it is currently paying the hotels. That works out to about $9,582 a month.
BSFD had asked for $200,000 a year for rent when the ambulance dispute started at the beginning of December.
BSFD Fire and Lee County are still trying to work out their ambulance dispute.
