Investigator resigns in aftermath of fatal Fort Myers hit and run
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Charles Lawson resigned Tuesday from his job as an investigator for the State Attorney's office in Fort Myers.
Lawson had been suspended following a deadly Christmas morning hit and run crash in which the Florida Highway Patrol considered him to be the prime suspect.
Lawson is currently facing DUI charges, but the FHP is looking at evidence that could link him to the fatal hit and run crash on McGregor Boulevard that killed Michael Sasen.
Lawson was arrested for drinking and driving less than an hour after the crash that killed Sasen after troopers pulled him over when they noticed he drove by the accident scene with a damaged vehicle.
