Fort Myers police search for man who botched bank robbery

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police are searching for a man who failed in his attempt to rob the Wells Fargo Bank on Six Mile Cypress Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the suspect walked into bank around 4:43 p.m. and handed the teller the note.

The teller couldn't read the writing, so she handed the note back to the suspect.

At that point he ran out of the bank and on the way out attempted to grab a purse from a woman in the parking lot.

The would-be robber ended up empty handed and no one was hurt.

Surveillance cameras inside the bank captured the suspect on video.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
