Fort Myers man robbed for cigarettes
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Fort Myers police arrested to homeless men accused of beating up another man for his cigarettes.
The victim told police that he was walking near Marsh Avenue and Edgewood Avenue when he spotted the two following him. They eventually caught up to him and ask for a cigarette.
When the victim reached for his cigarettes one of the men tackled the victim and that started a fight. Police say the victim yelled for help and two men responded came to his aid.
The two suspects ran from the scene and police set up a perimeter capturing David Scheidl hiding in the backyard of a home. A police K9 bit Scheidl during the arrest and he was taken to the hospital before he was arrested.
The other suspect Keith Magee gave himself up after police spotted him hiding down the street behind a large bush.
Magee and Scheidl were charged with robbery.
