Former Cape Mayor still not ready to admit defeat
CAPE CORAL - Former Cape Coral Mayor John Sullivan not ready to admit defeat, asking a Lee County Judge to grant a re-vote in Novembers election.
"I do believe some things weren't done properly", says John Sullivan.
Sullivan hired a private investigator who testified he found four votes that were illegally cast.
But the defense argued those four votes weren't enough to close the 121 vote gap between Sullivan and election winner Marni Sawicki.
Sullivan's attorney also argued that the canvassing board broke state law by allowing Cape Coral officials to serve on it, but Lee County Director of Elections Sharon Harrington testified there is no law that governs municipal elections.
