Fight continues over Bonita ambulance services
The battle between Lee County and the City of Bonita Springs Fire Department continued in an open hearing Monday.
Both county and city boards along with attorneys from both sides met to resolve an ongoing dispute surrounding the desire of the Bonita Springs Fire Department to own and control it's only emergency services, including ambulance transport instead of relying on the county.
Ultimately the two sides ruled to hash out more details and have an additional meeting in another month.
But for now, ambulances serving Bonita will move back into the fire stations there making commissioners optimistic.
“I'm looking forward to the two staffs coming together,” District 4 Commissioner Brian Hamman told FOX 4. “Hammering out the details and dual boards to discuss the future."
The board will meet for a third meeting on March 1, if the two sides fail to reach an agreement, an outside mediator will be called in to intervene.
