Dog abandoned in Lee County, euthanized
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Lhasa Apso, apparently left to die in a wooded area in Lee County, had to be euthanized.
Lee County Domestic Animal Serives say they found the 18-year-old dog last week, blind, with severely matted hair, suffering from numerous medical conditions.
In the first five weeks of 2014 LCDAS, in addition to routine calls, responded to 160 calls for cruelty and neglect, 99 calls for sick and injured animals, and 46 calls regarding abandoned animals.
Abandoning of pets is a violation of state statute. Anyone with information about this dog or her owner is asked to call Animal Services at 533-7387, ext. 2, or contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
