Disturbance, pursuit, leads to Cape arrests
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral police responded to a disturbance call around 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon that led to a short pursuit and two arrests.
The initial call in the 700 block of SW 8th Terrace involved two men, one who brandished a gun from a car.
Officers spotted the vehicle described in the incident as they closed in on the area. Police initiated a traffic stop and the driver, later identified as 25-year-old Alex Saul Perrotta refused to stop. Police say Perrotta accelerated and ran a red light at Santa Barbara Boulevard and Pine Island Road.
Police say as Perrotta drove east on Pine Island, they saw a black handgun tossed from the vehicle. Another officer found the gun, which was loaded.
The car finally came to a stop in the 1100 block of NE 9th Street where Perrotta and his passenger, 47-year-old Otis Marchman tried to flee on foot. Both were quickly captured.
Marchman was found with cocaine, suboxone, hydromorphone and heroin. The Fort Myers man will face drug charges.
Perrotta, of Cape Coral, was charged with driving without a license, fleeing and eluding police, running a red light, illegal window tint and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
