PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Three Charlotte County deputies are on administrative leave after a shooting incident inside a Port Charlotte residence involving a man threatening to harm himself.

The call came in before 11 Sunday morning from a relative that a man leaving in the area of West Tarpon Blvd. and Edgewater Drive was threatening to harm himself.

A trio of deputies entered the house after failing to contact the man inside.  Once inside, at least one shot was fired, but it did not hit anyone.

Deputies were able to take the man into custody without anyone getting hurt.

Because there was a gunshot fired, Major Crimes detectives were called to investigate the incident. The three deputies involved in the incident were placed on administrative leave in accordance with agency policy.  The investigation is still on-going and no further information is available at this time.
