Cold shelter opens tonight in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. - With temperatures headed toward the freezing mark tonight The Salvation Army in Fort Myers is opening its doors to men, women and children who do not have safe shelter.

Shelters open at 7:00 p.m., 2476 Edison Avenue for men and 2400 Edison Ave for women and children.

The evening begins with a hot meal served from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sally's Café (2476 Edison Ave.), If available socks for cold feet and hats to keep in body heat will be distributed.

The Salvation Army is also seeking donations of a few hundred pairs of new socks new, warm hats and jackets.

Overnight guests will also be fed the following morning.

Traditionally, The Salvation Army serves 100 individuals during cold night shelter openings each season and works with many other agencies to meet the needs of individuals and families facing need in our area.
