CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - A rare and deadly snake bite sent one man to a Charlotte County hospital.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says their Venom Unit sent 12 vials of Red Cross Cobra antivenin to Peace River Medical Center in Port Charlotte.

They say a Monocled Cobra bit the 39-year-old man last night and the antivenin traveled to Charlotte County by private emergency transport.

Peace River Hospital staff say the patient doesn't wish to release any information.
