Cape driver ends up in canal
CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Cape Coral firefighters responded to a car crash where the vehicle ended up in a canal in the 3400 block of NE 14th Place Wednesday night. Fortunately, the driver escaped injury.
Just after 10:45 pm firefighters responded. Engine 10 led by Lt. John Lynch arrived within moments and Engineer Kel Verplank entered the water to search for occupants. “We were in the water in about 90 seconds,” said Verplank. “Time is of the essence.”
The Cape fire dive team made a quick search and determined that nobody was trapped inside the vehicle. Shortly after Cape police confirmed that the driver had gotten out of the car safely and no one else was in the car.
