The couple's 9-year-old boy was unharmed and is in the care of family members.
The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges against Michael G. Young are pending.
"Preliminarily that appears to be the case, that this was in fact a domestic situation between a husband and wife that escalated," Sgt. Dana Coston said.
A.C.T., Abuse Counseling and Treatment, says domestic situations can easily escalate to serious physical abuse.
"Once the abuser stops finding that they have control over the other one using whatever techniques or tactics they are already using, that's when they increase," Christine Kobie, A.C.T. Community Educator, said.
Fox 4 spoke with one of Sally Young's cousins. She said Sally was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life.
