Burn dog, Hope, recovering
TAMPA, Fla. - Veterinarians caring for a badly burned dog in Tampa said Hope is doing well with her healing and recovery Monday.
Vets gave Hope an antiseptic wash Monday afternoon, which helped with the removal of dead skin and bad tissue. She was also given her sixth laser therapy treatment and remains in BluePearl’s intensive care unit.
“So far, Hope is doing very well in response to our treatment plan,” said Doctor Helga Bleyaert, a board-certified veterinary surgeon at BluePearl who is overseeing Hope’s case. “I’m still a little concerned about her eyes, but we should know more on Tuesday when our ophthalmologists take another look at them.”
According to the Hardee Animal Rescue Team, Hope was allegedly set on fire by her owner Thursday morning in Arcadia. The incident remains under investigation.
