Bonita Springs man charged with beating pregnant ex-girlfriend
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - A Bonita Springs man is facing felony charges for beating his pregnant ex-girlfriend and striking her mother.
The incident began Thursday night at the home of the victim, a 6 and a half months pregnant woman. She arrived home in the 9700 block of Carolina Avenue in Bonita Springs at about 9:30 p.m. to find her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Scott Joseph Snider, drunk, lying in the hammock in her front yard.
The victim asked Snider to leave and according to Lee County investigators he got out of the hammock and threw a bottle at her. The victim attempted to run away and call 911 when Snider attacked.
He began kicking the victim in the stomach several times according to his arrest report and also punched the victim. At that point the victim's mother tried to physically stop Snider and he attacked her.
Eventually the mother retrieved a shotgun, Snider raised his arms and said, "Kill me." The mother fired a warning shot into the air just moments before deputies arrived and Snider fled the scene.
Deputies managed to track Snider down hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. He continually resisted arrest. The scuffle with deputies resulted in Snider being treated for his injuries at an area hospital.
Snider is charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, battery on the mother and resisting arrest without violence.
