Atlanta's weather woes impact service to Southwest Florida International
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The winter storm that socked Atlanta on Tuesday is still reverberating through Southwest Florida International Airport on Wednesday.
Air service to and from Atlanta out of RSW is non-existent for now. The first flight from Atlanta into RSW is scheduled to arrive after 2 p.m.
Helicopter video from Atlanta shows abandoned and stranded vehicles strewn across interstates and highways across the metro Atlanta area. Some drivers reported spending as much as 16 hours in their cars, while numerous students were forced to stay at their schools overnight.
The Governor of Georgia has declared a state of emergency.
