Mount Gay Rum dinner at Agave Bar & Grill

  • Print

Chef Andrew McLaughlin Jr. designed the dinner to showcase Agave’s American menu: sugar cane skewered gulf shrimp basted with mint-lime chimichurri over a citrus-jalapeno salad, paired with Mount Gay Silver; grilled mahi mahi laced with a tropical fruit curry over basmati rice, paired with Mount Gay Eclipse; seared pork tenderloin with a candied apple garnish, roasted fingerling potatoes and caramelized spiced cauliflower, paired with Mount Gay Black Barrel; and bananas foster with royal scoop vanilla bean ice cream, paired with Mount Gay XO. Mount Gay Rum is the product of over 300 years of knowledge, experience and refinement applied to the process of making rum, including distillation, ageing and blending. Each of the rum’s complex flavors have been coaxed from natural Barbadian ingredients and the input of many generations of master blenders and distillers. Originating in the Caribbean Island of Barbados in 1703, rum, originally called “Kill-Devil” by the Barbadians who first distilled it, is a product of the island. The abundance of molasses combined with the culinary ingenuity of early settlers and, of course, their legendary thirst for alcohol lead to this unique discovery in the production of spirits. The rum dinner is priced at $50 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Space is limited and reservations are required at 239-598-3473. For more information, visit or call 239-598-3473.
