National Arbor Day 2014 at Edison Ford
Arbor Tree Planting Ceremony by Edison Ford, Helen Hendry, Trustee and Big Tree Specialist, Edison Ford Staff and students from Edison Park School. Celebrating Florida Trees on National Arbor Day is an annual celebration at the Edison Ford Winter Estates, home to hundreds of varieties of trees and plants and numbers of champion-sized trees. This year, Edison Ford will celebrate with their Trustee Helen Hendry, Landscape Architect, who has been a pioneer in the industry for 61 years. Helen will be joined by the students from Edison Park Neighborhood School for the planting of six trees in the gardens of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. This public is invited to join the activities which begin at 10 am in the gardens. National Arbor Day has been around since 1872 as a national celebration, and Thomas Edison began his work in Fort Myers adding trees to his gardens as early as 1885. Admission is free.
