The national WWAST is comprised of young, athletic veterans and active-duty soldiers who have lost their limbs, post Sept. 11, 2001, while serving in the military. Their mission is to raise awareness and educate the public about the serious injuries suffered by our men and women in uniform and their subsequent rehabilitation that allows them to function like any other American. Donations help fund the players’ equipment, training and support they need to not only play a sport they love but serve as an inspiration to all who face adversity, as well as the training and education required to pursue their academic goals and professional pursuits. The Brotherhood Ride consists of a group firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency personnel from across the U.S. that organizes annual bicycling events where they ride 600 miles from Naples, Fla. to Charleston, S.C. in honor of emergency first responders who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Their mission is to provide emotional and financial support to the families of these fallen first responders. During the past six years, they have honored the memory and sacrifice of 444 first responders, traveled more than 4,700 miles through 16 states and raised more than $191,000 to the families left behind.
