Join 21st Century C.A.R.E. foundation, the Ft. Myers-based nonprofit that provides support and assistance to cancer patients in need, for the 4th Annual Scope for Hope Run/Walk on March 29, 2014 at 8 a.m. at Hammond Stadium, 14100 Six Mile Cypress Parkway. The event’s goal is to raise funds and erase the stigma behind colorectal cancer, coinciding with Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, observed in March. All of the funds will remain in Southwest Florida and will be used for colorectal cancer screening, treatment and follow-up care, financial assistance for colorectal cancer patients in need, and educational programs related to colorectal cancer. The race day schedule opens with registration at 7:00 a.m.; 5K timed run at 8:00 a.m.; 2 mile walk at 8:10 a.m.; and kids fun run at 9:15 a.m. Awards will be provided in the 5K run to the top male and female finisher overall, and for Masters (40 and above), Grandmasters (50 and above) and Senior Grandmasters (60 and above). The first three places in the 5K race in 15 age categories, male and female, will receive a medal. And all participants in the kids fun run will receive a medal.
