Naples Concert Band Concert in the Park
The Naples Concert Band (www.NaplesConcertBand.org), under the direction of Harris Lanzel, will present a Concert in the Park on Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cambier Park Bandshell. The 80-member Naples Concert Band (NCB) will offer a powerhouse of guest performers at this concert including clarinetist Paul Votepeck from the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra; vocalist Amy Bright and her jazz trio; and story teller extraordinaire Craig Greusel. Votepeck will perform “Concertino for Clarinet and Band” by Frank Bencriscutto and will also be featured with the NCB clarinet section in Malinda Zenor’s original composition “Ragtime for Clarinet”. Bright and her jazz trio will join the NCB to present two special arrangements written for her by band member Bud Pike, including “Cole Porter Medley” and “With Plenty of Money and You”. Greusel will dawn his narrator hat to tell the story of Don Quixote backed by a very descriptive Ferrer Ferran score. The classical piece “Morning, Noon, and Night in Vienna” by von Suppe, Michael Brown’s “Opening Night On Broadway”, and several outstanding marches will round out the afternoon’s program. Special thanks to NCB entertainer sponsor, Dr. Keith Hussey, Gastroenterologist. Guests are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. Donations received at each concert help to defray operating expenses and are applied to The Band’s Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships each year to deserving student members of The Band.
