“I Pagliacci (The Clowns)"
Opera Naples will present I Pagliacci, (The Clowns), by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, at The Ritz-Carlton Tiburon on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22, with both performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Opera Naples and the Opera Naples Chorus and Orchestra will bring to life this tragic tale of jealousy and adultery that first premiered at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan in 1892. I Pagliacci is a two-act opera that features an exceptional story about life as a circus performer and will incorporate real circus acts into the performance through a unique collaboration with Circus Sarasota. Opera Naples’ I Pagliacci will be performed in Italian with English subtitles. The cast features Tenor, Jonathan Burton, hailed as "an engaging all-around singer with a powerful, full-bodied sound” (Opera News) as Canio and internationally-acclaimed Baritone Guido LeBrón, whose credits include performances at the Metropolitan Opera and San Francisco Opera, as Tonio. They are joined by Soprano, Katie Dixon, who is known for her natural sparkle and a voice to match. International Stage Director, Garnett Bruce, returns after his triumphant company debut directing “Tosca” last season.
