Planned Parenthood gala to feature Ashley Judd
Actress and activist Ashley Judd will bring her passion for women’s rights to The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club Saturday, Feb. 1 for Planned Parenthood of Collier County’s 10th Annual Choice Affair 2014. The premier fundraising and awareness-building event begins at 6 p.m. Judd is a leading international voice on humanitarian causes ranging from AIDS to birth control, military rape to comprehensive sex education, to equity and justice for women – in the Third World, as well as the First. Her mission and that of Planned Parenthood go hand-in-hand. For 40 years, Planned Parenthood of Collier County has offered women medical and prenatal care, birth control, education, cancer screenings and family planning services – regardless of their ability to pay. Since 2004, The Choice Affair has spotlighted women’s issues and the critical role Planned Parenthood plays in meeting them. Past speakers have included Gloria Steinem, Ellen Goodman, Jane Fonda, Kathleen Turner, Helen Thomas and Anna Quindlen. The event supports Planned Parenthood’s spectrum of health, family planning and educational services. The organization depends on community generosity: donations account for 50 percent of the organization’s budget, compared to just 9 percent government funding (none of which pays for abortions). Planned Parenthood sees nearly 10,000 patients each year and is striving to care for even more. Pricing starts at $350 for single tickets and ranges up to $15,000 for lead table sponsorships. For more information and to purchase tickets or sponsorships, contact Linda Goldfield, Planned Parenthood of Collier County’s director of development & marketing, at 239-262-8923 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Planned Parenthood of Collier County, an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, is the nation’s largest and longest-running family planning organization. Thousands of women, men and teens living in Collier County visit health centers in Naples and Immokalee each year and rely on the comprehensive and affordable services to make responsible and informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health. PPCC health centers are located at 1425 Creech Road in Naples and at 419 N. First St. in Immokalee. For additional information, call 239-262-0301 or visit www.plannedparenthood.org/collier-county.
