Herradura Tequila dinner at Agave Southwestern Grill & Tequila Bar
Agave Southwestern Grill & Tequila Bar is hosting a four-course tequila dinner featuring Herradura Tequila Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. Executive Chef Juan De LaRosa designed the dinner to showcase Agave’s contemporary Southwestern menu: grilled prawn with summer salad of avocado and dragon fruit with avocado crema, paired with Herradura Blanco; adobo braised leg of rabbit with cheese enchilada and salsa verde, paired with Herradura Reposado; duck confit stuffed sopes with seared duck breast and Chile-orange glaze, paired with Herradura Anejo; and brown sugar roasted pineapple with puff pastry crisps and a tequila-honey glaze, paired with Agave’s private label Herradura Reposado. In 1870, Félix López officially registered San José del Refugio as a tequila-producing hacienda. Casa Herradura stands today as it has since 1870 in the village of Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico. The only 100 percent hacienda-made tequila in the world, Herradura combines more than 135 years of experience and starts with only 100 percent blue Weber agave. Casa Herradura is one of Mexico’s largest barrel holders. Using only oak barrels imported from Kentucky, the tequila is aged for varying lengths of time. The oak imparts flavor and color – no caramel coloring is ever added. A portion of the tequila that is placed in the barrel is lost to evaporation. This is known as “the angel’s share,” and Casa Herradura is aged longer than required by law. The tequila dinner is priced at $50 per person (plus tax and gratuity).
