Ikebana Meeting and Demonstration from Ikenobo School
April 3rd will bring a change of the Board for Ikebana Naples #160 as the membership elects it’s new officers. The meeting will be held at the Moss Hall of the Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive beginning at 9 A.M.After the election Sensei Stephanie English will lead the group in creating an interesting Ikenobo design. Ikenobo is the oldest and most traditional of the three Japanese flower arranging schools represented in the Naples organization. The other schools are Ohara and Sogetsu. Ikenobo is a tradition born in Japan over 550 years ago. Mrs. English is a Sr. Professor of Ikenobo and has been studying this art form for nearly 20 years. She has travelled extensively to Japan and around the U.S. to enhance her knowledge of Ikenobo. She has been the President of the Ikenobo chapter here in Naples since 2010 and she loves to share her passion for Ikenobo with others. Fortunate attendees will also be able to shop at the ginza or market place and this time members will be recycling some of their own flower arranging wares. A light luncheon will be served. The public is invited to attend but must make a reservation for the luncheon and the workshop by going to the website, www.Ikebananaples,com for details about cost and materials to bring for Mrs. English’s workshop.
