Florida Spring Sled Hockey Showcase/Tournament
Disabled athletes will travel from New York, Tennessee, Nebraska, and across the state of Florida to participate in the Florida Spring Sled Hockey Showcase. Sled hockey is an adaptive version of ice hockey, modified for athletes with disabilities. Players utilize a specialized sled, and use sticks not only for game play but also for propulsion. The Fort Myers-based Florida Ice will play at 9:30 pm on Friday March 1; and at 5:30 and 8 pm on Saturday March 2nd. The third place game will be played at 8:00 am on Sunday, March 3, with the tournament championship at 9:30 am. After the championship game, a free introduction to disabled hockey clinic will be held. Admission is free, donations accepted to the Florida Sled Hockey Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Millennium Physician Group, the City of Fort Myers, and USA Hockey.
