Harry Chapin Mobile Food Pantry coming to Charlotte County
The Harry Chapin Food Bank will have its Mobile Food Pantry at Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, October 22, providing free food to needy families and individuals in Charlotte County. The mobile unit will be located on the northeast corner of U.S. 41 South and West Charlotte Avenue, in the parking lot directly across from the front of the church. Recipients are asked to bring a bag or box to carry their food. The pantry is being hosted by the Sacred Heart Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, an international Catholic lay organization founded in 1833 to serve the poor, regardless of religious affiliation. St. Vincent provides food, clothing, home furnishings, and financial assistance to individuals and families in need. The Harry Chapin Food Bank, headquartered in Ft. Myers, supplies St. Vincent and other local food pantries in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties.
