Naples Concert Band Performance with Trumpet Prodigy
The Naples Concert Band (NCB), under the direction of Harris Lanzel, will conduct two concerts with special guest performer and trumpet prodigy, Geoffrey Gallante, on Saturday, March 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lely High School auditorium and Sunday, March 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cambier Park Band Shell. Gallante performed with the Naples Concert Band last year and is back for an encore performance. Gallante began trumpet at the tender age of four. Now just barely 11 years old, his credits already include The Washington Post, BBC Radio, CBS’s ‘The Early Show’, NBC’s ‘Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ (playing with the ‘Tonight Show Band’), and NBC’s ‘Today Show’ where he joined Columbia Records recording artist Chris Botti in a marvelous duet of ‘America the Beautiful’. In addition to performing with the Naples Concert Band, Gallante has performed with the U.S. Army Blues Jazz Ensemble on the steps of the U.S. Capitol; the Washington Symphonic Brass; jazz trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson; the U.S. Naval Academy Concert Band; the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and Allentown (PA) Band, America's Oldest Civilian Band. He has played at the White House and the Kennedy Center. Geoff has also played with other trumpet luminaries Phil Driscoll, Arturo Sandoval, Hugh Masekela, and Wynton Marsalis. Gallante has performed the ‘National Anthem’ for about 400,000 sports fans in 14 professional sports venues across the country including six NBA arenas, seven MLB stadiums, and one NHL arena. About 30,000 fans at the championship game of the Little League World Championship were treated to Geoff's anthem performance last August as well. The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts stated that, “Geoffrey possesses the kind of musical giftedness very seldom seen even among such a rarefied and exclusive group as child musical prodigies”. Gallante will be performing an all-new program including three solos from the Wynton Marsalis CD, “Carnaval”. This Naples Concert Band performance is presented by Miromar Outlets. Guests are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and blankets for the performance at the Cambier Park Band Shell. Admission is free to both performances, with donations appreciated. Donations received at each concert go toward student scholarships, which are awarded each year to deserving student members of the band. Please note: If inclement weather presents itself, the Sunday performance will also take place at the Lely High School auditorium. The Naples Concert Band is a non-profit organization dedicated to entertaining the community with old-fashioned concerts in the park. The Band is currently in its 40th season offering free concerts to the Southwest Florida community.
