SW FLORIDA 10th ANNUAL BURROWING OWL FESTIVAL
This family fun filled event celebrates the start of the Burrowing Owl nesting season. Festival highlights include Paige the eagle & other birds of prey from the Maitland Audubon Center. Speakers include author Charles Sobczak, wildlife biologist & scholar Dr. Jerry Jackson, wildlife educator Lynda White & local photographer Dan Tudor. Nature and wildlife inspired artists, photographers & vendors will have items for sale. Demonstrations given on owl starter burrow installation & maintenance. Take a tour through the live interactive butterfly house to learn about their host & nectar plants. Children will enjoy the free arts & crafts tent. Take a guided nature walk for wildlife viewing or sign up for the bus tours to local burrowing owl burrows which are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. Various other animals will be on display. Shop the native plants offered for sale. Cape Coral will have a fire truck on display from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the K-9 Unit will give demonstrations from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Lee County Sheriff Deptartment will offer free child finger printing throughout the day. We will have music, food and much more so plan to spend the day.
