Ikebana meeting - Japanese Folk Dance
Florida resident, Satomi Hirano will lead a performance of both a Japanese folk and Samurai dance. This type of dance is uniquely different from any western or european style dancing. The costumes alone make for an interesting spectacle. After the dance portion of the program, we will try our hand at Kanzashi, hair ornaments made with fabric much like origami and used in traditional Japanese hairstyles. The meeting on Wednesday February 1st is free and the public is welcome to attend, however, an advance reservation for non-members is required by sending an e-mail to ikebananaples @me.com. At this meeting, we will have a large supply of Ikebana supplies available for purchase (cash or check only). For more information, try our website at www.ikebananaples.com
