SAVE THE DATE The Guadalupe Center of Immokalee Brings A Taste of China to Collier County
The Guadalupe Center’s annual signature event, “A Taste of China,” will be held on Jan. 19, 2012. As the attendees will walk into a private club in the Port Royal neighborhood of Naples, they will be greeted by a series of 12-foot-tall Chinese emperors. A Chinese gong and a Chinese pagoda balcony also will add to the global setting. Tables will be decorated with silk and silk-embroidered overlays. While guests enjoy cocktails and dinner, they will be treated to a professional group performing a traditional Chinese dragon dance. In addition to the Chinese auction items, the Guadalupe Center’s “A Taste of China” event also will have one-of-a-kind specialty items and experiences. Naples’ Mayor Bill Barnett and Scott Robertson will serve as guest auctioneers. The Guadalupe Center has been serving the children and families of Immokalee for 29 years. Its mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing educational, social, and other support programs and resources. Tickets are $350 per person; to purchase call (239) 657-7711 or visit www.guadalupecenter.org. The evening’s lead sponsor is Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
