Fox 4 Rising Anchor

About Miriam

Thanks for stopping by to find out a little bit more about me.  I am thrilled to bring you the news each and every morning on Fox Four Rising from 5 to 8 a.m. People think I'm crazy but I love being an early bird and hope to get your day started on the right foot.

I have always been a news hound and love telling people's stories.

It's my second time around in Southwest Florida so that should tell you something great about our area.

My first go around was from 2005  to 2010 when I worked for one of the competing stations working my up from editor to producer to traffic anchor and general assignment reporter.

I then landed an opportunity at the FOX affiliate in San Antonio, Texas serving as a reporter/anchor and host launching a brand new lifestyle show.

I haven't always lived in hot places. I was born and raised in Connecticut and caught the broadcasting bug pretty early on. My father, from Chile, broke ground in the Spanish radio community working his way through the airwaves. Watching him, I always knew I had to get behind a microphone too one day. We spent so much time with him at radio stations, my brothers and I used to sleep under the desks in the sales office. We would probably be in trouble if anyone knew but what an experience (and great hide and seek spot) as a kid! My mom, originally from Boston would be mortified!

My first venture out of the New England air was to finish college at Barry University in Miami Shores where I graduated with a degree in Journalism. While there, I did a number of behind the scenes production jobs including one with The Best Damn Sports Show Period. I also hosted my own nightly radio show.

While I will always have New England in my heart, I am happy to call Southwest Florida home again.

Life recently became much sweeter after my husband and I welcomed our first baby girl in the summer of 2012.

She'll get used to the outdoors as I love traveling, running and being on the water whether by boat or jetski.

If I see you on land or water, please say hello!
