Fox 4 Rising Reporter
Alex Butler reports for FOX 4 Rising
Hi! Thanks for clicking to find out more about me!
First, I could not be happier to be back in Florida! I was born in New York, but my family drove down to Miami and moved the Butler compound to South Florida when I was 4 years old. (So, I am a native Floridian by association, I think.) I decided I wanted to be a reporter about 6 years later.(Thanks to the audio on my TV in my room dying out) I started reading the closed captioning of World News Tonight to my wonderful parents on a pretty regular basis.
I started my career in broadcasting at the age of 14, when I got my first job as a Jr. Broadcaster for NBC 6. I later attended the University of Florida and after graduating I moved to Los Angeles, California for two years. I went to LALAland (as they call it) and worked in entertainment news as a red carpet correspondent for Focus Hollywood while freelancing for several other entertainment news companies. Before joining Fox 4, I worked for KCBD NewsChannel 11 in Texas and as a result of my Texas life I am now a lover of sweet tea, cowboys, and country music. On my first plane ride to Lubbock a passenger next to me said, "Welcome to Texas, we're so flat - you can see a dog running away from your house for 3 days." Its true. One of the greatest experiences in my life, by far.
While I enjoyed Texas I could not be more excited to be in the Sunshine state! In my spare time, you'll find me soaking up the sun at the beach. (As you can imagine...after spending a year landlocked in Texas, I am more than excited to smell the ocean on a regular basis.) I grew up off the Atlantic Ocean, moved to the Pacific Ocean, and now I am excited to meet the Gulf Coast.
I am always looking for something fun to do in the AM, so if you have any great ideas feel free to send them my way! See you in the morning and thanks for watching Fox 4 Rising!
