About Jamie

Thanks for stopping by to learn a little more about me.

I was born in Orange, California. By the age of two my family moved back to Minnesota where I grew up around the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Most of our hot summer weekends were spent at our cabin in the Brainerd Lakes area.

I began my steps towards a career in Meteorology at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. I graduated with a degree in Geography. Afterwards, I earned a Master's Degree in Meteorology from Saint Louis University in Missouri. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to specialize in Severe Local Storms and Doppler radar, both of which play a vital role in the weather broadcast industry.

After completing my education, a great opportunity opened for me to hit the local airwaves of southern Minnesota as the Morning/Weekend Meteorologist at KEYC 12 in Mankato. After 6 months I was promoted to Chief Meteorologist and served in that role for nearly 7 years. During that time I was fortunate to cover weather ranging from winter blizzards and subzero temperatures to severe thunderstorms and dangerous tornadoes.

My next job opportunity took me to the High Desert of the Northern Rockies as the Chief Meteorologist at KIFI Local News 8 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Here I experienced the challenges and grew an appreciation for mountain and desert forecasting. A short drive to Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons, I also experienced the beauty of the Intermountain West. I also married my wife, Mandy, whom I met during my time in southern Minnesota.

After three years in Idaho I accepted a position that would take us clear across the country to southwestern Florida. WOW! I love the Florida weather! In March of 2010, I joined the FOX 4 team as the Morning Meteorologist on FOX 4 Rising.

Besides my beautiful wife Mandy, our family includes our two beagles, Abby and Ginger. We look forward to experiencing all that southwestern Florida has to offer. Oh and I forgot to mention… we love living here because we get an early look at our favorite baseball team, the Minnesota Twins.

Thanks for spending some time to learn more about me and be sure to wake up to FOX 4 Rising.
