Born and raised in Chicago, my friends like to call me Jazz.
My life towards journalism started out on a tennis court. I come from a big tennis family, where my two sisters and I all played Division 1 tennis. The oldest played for the University of Illinois, I played for the University of Oregon and the youngest for the University of Michigan. You could say we are a house divided.
After finishing up my college athletic career, I got my first stint in the media industry as a sports journalist. Where my degree in Finance and Marketing, did nothing of the such to help me out.
Nevertheless, I somehow managed to get a gig as an ESPN commentator and sideline reporter for NCAA College Tennis before discovering my passion for general news.
I went on to earn my Master’s in broadcast journalism at Northwestern University (purple pride all the way) and it led me to here — covering local stories in Southwest Florida.
Other than that, I eat Milkduds with my popcorn, am an avid Billie Holiday fan and spend Thursday nights catching up on all my Shondaland shows. Scandal will always be my favorite.
But enough about me! I want to hear about you! Hit me up and share your story with me. Because as I liked to say, “everyone’s story is important.”
