A Charlotte County mother took her blind son all the way to China, to get him a stem cell treatment he couldn't get here in The United States. Chinese doctors injected stem cells from a mother's umbilical cord into Baby Cameron's body, some of them were injected straight into his brain. His mom Melissa Van Gorp says his sight isn't fully restored, but Cameron is making some serious progress. She says he's started reaching for his toys without anyone's help. "He's changed, his behavior has changed tremendously. He's a lot more active and he looks around a lot more, and he plays with his toys a lot more, " Van Gorp Said. She wears a bracelet that says 'Cameron's Miracle of Sight'. The Peterson family is selling the bracelets to raise money for his next treatment. "We definitely think we'll start to see a little bit more after he starts his hyper barricks, because the doctor talked a lot about how good that was doing for other people, " Van Gorp said. Cameron is seeing an eye doctor in a few weeks, and his family is looking forward to seeing more positive progress.
