Cat caught in tree for days, finally rescued

A kitty conundrum in south Ft. Myers! Frantic neighbors call Four in your Corner after a cat is caught up in a tree for two days with no food or water.

To make matters worse, the family says officials wouldn't do anything.

One crafty kitty has the entire neighborhood in a feline frenzy. Cady the cat ran into a backyard tree Tuesday after something spooked her. She was still in the tree Wednesday afternoon.

Her family has tried to lure her down with cat food and a bowl of water on the ground but she won't budge. Her owners think she's scared.

"We're gonna have to find someone to get it down," said neighbor Natasha Addison. "It's been up (there) two days now."

Neighbors say no one's willing to go out on a limb to rescue the family pet.

The family says they called police Tuesday to come out and take a look but they couldn't do anything, so the police officers left. Firefighters showed up Wednesday though when they heard Fox 4 was on the scene.

City workers came out too, with a bucket truck. Before they went up, the crowd that came to watch the spectacle unfold grabbed a portion of the tarp to catch Cady in case she fell.

She didn't fall but she did move away from the city worker who went up in the truck to rescue her. Cady tested one final branch before she left from the tree and into the safety net waiting for her below.

The cat was shaken up but animal control officers think she should recover from her adventure.
