LCEC writes email to Fox 4 Boss

As the public relations manager for LCEC, Karen Ryan is the face you see on TV. Lately, she doesn't like what you're seeing on Fox 4. So, she wrote this long email to FOX 4's boss, general manager Judy Kenney.

RYAN writes: She's "saddened with the recent manner in which Fox4 is working to tarnish the reputation." That LCEC has worked 70 years to earn.

RYAN writes "For you, I know it is about ratings, but for us at LCEC, it is about having our standing in the community harmed and our character defamed unfairly."

She writes she wants our boss to meet with the lcec leadership team to help FOX 4 "gain a better understanding of [LCEC's] business".

Ryan also writes if our boss doesn't want to meet with her about these stories, she might have to go to our boss's boss.

FOX 4's corporate owner, Journal Broadcast Group.

RYAN writes: "If you feel that this would be better discussed at the Journal Broadcast Group corporate level, can you please advise me of the person that I should contact?"

She goes on to talk about all the awards and things LCEC wins for great customer service, and how proud she is of their "fair and ethical business practices"

She tells our boss she is looking forward to: "renewing our mutually beneficial relationship."

Our boss Judy Kenney emails right back...pointing out that we've done the stories because so many viewers are complaining about LCEC:

JUDY writes: "They are angry about the way LCEC demands large deposits and reconnection fees when they ask for help with their bills."

Our boss writes she doesn't quite get why lcec wants to have a meeting, saying: "It sounds like you would like to meet with me to ask that we stop doing these stories for our viewers."

She tells Karen Ryan that we plan to keep doing the stories "as long as viewers are asking us to get answers"

And "[FOX 4 doesn't] have secret meetings like that "off the record". Any meeting we would agree to have would be on the record and not behind closed doors. We would bring cameras and share the information with our viewers."

Plus, Fox 4 thought you should hear this. Monday, Karen Ryan told us all our questions about LCEC are costing you money. She says there's a price for providing answers to Fox 4.

TY / FOX 4: Which is driving up rates How?

KAREN RYAN: I have other things to do…and I need to ask other employees to stop what they're doing and give me support information, and that drives up the costs.

We're not sure how much an entire meeting between LCEC and Fox 4 might cost. But, if the meeting happens, we'll try to get you that number.
