OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Officials at an Interstate 75 weigh station in Marion County reported finding more than 800 pounds of marijuana hidden in a load of cantaloupes being hauled by a semitrailer.
Department of Transportation officials arrested and charged the driver, 31-year-old Richard Garfield Coulton, with marijuana trafficking after Thursday's discovery. The Orlando man, who is originally from Jamaica, was reportedly on his way from Arizona to Miami.
A judge set Coulton's bail Friday at $50,000.
Coulton told the Ocala Star-Banner that he did not know anything about the marijuana and that no one had access to the truck.
