Who's telling the truth: Transportation director or bus drivers?

Updated:

When some Lee County bus drivers heard their boss -- Charles Dailey,  come over the radio with an all call warning on Thursday, they called Four In Your Corner.

They're scared to speak publicly, but they all heard that warning. Was it about predators? Or school board members?

Four In Your Corner talked to 4 different Lee County bus drivers on the phone Thursday, and they all said the same thing.  Charles Dailey made an announcement on the bus radio system -- an "all call" to drivers. Three tell us he said this: "No school board members are allowed on a bus without permission from Dailey or Browder. Check with dispatch first".

The last driver remembers it a little differently. She tells Four In Your Corner he didn't say school board members, but he did say school district employees.

They all agree on this - he issued the warning not once, not twice, but three different times. MMr. Dailey tells us, he didn't specify board members were barred from riding. He says he used the words our fourth driver remembers.

"We announced that no school district employee, none should be allowed to ride buses," said Dailey.

We want to know -- why he would make such a point to issue the all call -- and more than once at that.

"Our attempt was to basically put drivers in the mind -- be careful, don't let any school district employee, anybody get on your buses for a ride, unless one, you call dispatch, then dispatch will contact me and what I will do is say oh, tell me your reason," said Dailey.

Dailey also told us this all call was really just his normal pre-Thanksgiving warning about the increase in sexual predators.

One driver tells us he does warn them about predators, usually at the beginning of the school year, but this all-call was nothing like that.

She says he clearly stated they should keep school district employees off the bus.
