An early-morning fire in Cape Coral has been ruled as a burglary/arson.
Cape Fire responded to a 911 call just after 1 am at 708 Gleason Parkway from a neighbor reporting that flames could be seen inside the home. When fire crews arrived within a few minutes, flames were coming from the rear of the building and through the roof. Firefighters had the fire under control by 2:05 a.m. but the home was a total loss.
The homeowners responded to the scene and discovered that numerous items were missing from the home.
This is the third time that Cape fire crews have responded to this residence in the past 18 months. On June 2, 2008, there was an electrical fire that caused $20,000 in damage.
On November 4, Cape firefighters were called to another fire at the home, in the garage. This fire was ruled accidental, and the loss was $20,000.
