A Southwest Florida mother was on the phone with her son when he was shot during the Fort Hood massacre. 21-year-old Justin Johnson of Punta Gorda is still recovering after being shot twice. The story of Justin Johnson all unfolded over the phone.

"He was talking to his mother the same time he got shot, she heard when they shot him," said Estella Simons, Justin's grandmother. She heard the noise but at the time had no idea that her 21-year-old son had been shot. She thought it was a video game.

"She said Justin, Justin, stop playing the games and listen to me and he didn't answer," said Justin's grandmother. It was only later that Justin's mother learned that he had been wounded during the massive shooting at Fort Hood.

"They said he was shot here, in his diaphragm, so it came down here and punctured the lungs," said Justin's grandmother. "She heard this loud screaming and she's thinking what a loud scream, not knowing that he's the one that got shot."

Now Justin's family, school and an entire nation are in shock.

"You read and hear about things like this happening all the time but when it happens to someone that you know, it's hits home a little bit more," said Justin's old football coach, Binky Waldrop.

At last check, Justin's family said he was at a Texas hospital in intensive care.
